Dear Devine ISD Families,

These weeks have been challenging ones both for our district and for you. As the COVID Omicron variant has spread in our community and our nation, we have tried to make adjustments as guidance from various agencies change.

Last week, in accordance with TEA and DSHS, we changed our staff’s isolation protocols to a period of five days, either from the onset of symptoms and symptoms are improving, or in the case of asymptomatic staff members, from the day of the positive test.

In an effort to be consistent, and consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, we are announcing that as of today, these same isolation protocols will be in place for our students.

If a student tests positive for Covid-19 and is showing symptoms, the five-day period to return to school will begin with the day after symptoms begin to improve.

If a student is asymptomatic, and the parent chooses to test him/her because of a close contact, and the student tests positive, day one of the quarantine will be the day after the positive test. The student may return to campus on day six.

Students and staff must be symptom-free and fever-free before returning. If you feel your student qualifies for this earlier return date, you must contact your campus nurse for clearance to return.

It is our mission to give all students the best in-person learning experience possible, and to continue Devine ISD’s “Tradition of Excellence”.

Sincerely,
Dr. Todd Grandjean

Devine ISD is aware of the newest recommended guidance for isolation and re-entry related to Covid-19 developed by the Centers for Disease Control. At this time, The Texas Education Agency and Department of State Health Services have not officially changed the public health guidance for school districts in Texas. We expect recommended guidelines from both agencies by the end of this week. Devine ISD will continue to observe the protocols currently in place until the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Education Agency announces any updates.

Respectfully,

Dr. Todd Grandjean
Superintendent
