Face-to-Face/in-person students who would be counted absent for a day/class that falls under the guidelines for an excused absence as outlined in the Student Handbook are eligible to qualify as present if they meet the following guidelines:

  • Notify the campus attendance clerk and teacher(s) on or before the day of the absence so the teacher will know to push out work and look for submission of assignments or participation; if the student has no digital capabilities, it is the student/parent responsibility to make arrangements with the campus.
  • Complete all of the class’/day’s remote assignment/participation requirements by 11:59 p.m. on each day of each absence.
  • Provide appropriate documentation of qualifying excused absence as described in the Student Handbook within 24 hours of each absence.

Every classroom teacher has a Google Classroom. It is imperative for each in-person child/parent to join each teacher’s GC so that if the student is absent from in-person class, doing assignments in GC will be possible and easily accessible.

Parents and students must be aware that the work presented on GC may or may not be the exact work that takes place in class. The student may or may not be asked to do any work missed in his/her in-person class.

Even with this new process, we encourage all our in-person learners to be present all days and for all classes, just as in any other school year.

Face-to-face learners who are not in class may be marked absent at attendance time. Once the student has completed the remote assignment and submitted acceptable documentation, they will receive attendance credit for their remote work.
